| Note |
For large ensemble, the enactment of a fertility ritual which celebrates the sexual union of a chosen woman with a chosen man. The movement style is African-influenced modern, with classical elements, and reflects a universal concept of erotic 'primitivism'. Part 1 danced by the men, Part 2 by the women and then combined ensemble. The work has become established in the international repertory and it initiated a tradition of orgiastic, minimally-clothed Sacres. |
